I recently moved and can no longer have an outdoor grill and was looking for a indoor alternative that would allow me to continue to grill healthy. This grill fits the bill perfectly. Accurate temperature control, you just need to change your mindset that you need to flip your food to cook completely. A bit of a hassle to clean but once you get used to it the process is pretty simple. This provided me with exactly what I was seeking at a reasonable price. This is great for apartments and townhouses . I have used on pork chops , steaks, burgers, and chicken breast and currently I am full . I use a little PAM top and bottom before cooking makes clean up easier I think. It does splatter a little but I put a bath towel under it I use this towel just for grilling so there really is no clean up . I would buy it again for sure..This one is a keeper. I bought the one that didn't have the top grill and realized that was inefficient, and the quality wasn't as good. This one is perfect. Smaller, easy to store, easy to clean, and cooks really quickly. I made chicken and salmon and tried a panini today. It's fun. More energy efficient than heating up my oven for one piece of salmon. The quality is solid. Very pleased with the purchase. I recommend. This is a great little grill for one or two steaks. I found that if I mixed up a spray bottle of water with about 1/4 cup of Dawn dishwashing liquid, and sprayed it onto the still hot grill grids (with the grill sitting in the sink) cleanup was a breeze.Despite being lifelong householders my wife and I recently moved into a condo for the first time. To say we were outdoor grilling fanatics is an understatement: since 1995 we've grilled meats, sausages and veggies outdoors 2-3 times per week, all year round. Despite the amazing views and amenities of our new home we both dreaded the condo's strict "no grill" rule that would change our diet. This terrific electric grill solved the problem 100%...and as sacrilegious as it may sound to other members of the grill cult...we like this MORE than our old outdoor grill!HOT HOT HOT - Our first concern was that electric grills are generally awful because of the lack of grilling power. Not this one! The 500W elements have plenty of power and sear meats perfectly.EFFICIENT - Because it is grilling from two sides at once we've actually had to decrease cooking times. And no big tanks of propane to lug around, go empty or fill for $15 per tank!EASY TO CLEAN - The non-stick coating and drip cup make it very easy to clean. UPDATE June 23, 2013 - Originally I did not recommend getting the special sponges Easy to use perfect for apartment living! The actuating button that turns on the 425 temp is somewhat oval shaped and with a small round post under it to actuate a microswitch. If the button is pushed on the side of the button it puts undue pressure on the small post that goes down and actuates the 425 et. Mine finally broke by just pushing on the side of the oval button. I just ordered another as they do a terrific job but it might be a good idea for the manufacturer to make a round button to push on to save other items being broken. *** I've read some of the other reviews. It's amazing how many people in this country are wusses and need to have someone to show them how to use toilet paper. I suppose if it gets any worse the manufactures will need to furnish a live butler to show them how to do everything ---- even to be able to turn it on.If you have ever been around an outdoorgrill (propane or brickets) you know howmuch maintenance required to keep itclean. The indoor electric grills do notcome with a Maid, however I have found they clean up better once they havecooled off, with some old rags orpaper towels. What a bummer — thereisn’t a free lunch here. (-:Sometimes when they are still a little hotthe grease comes off faster. This unit is a good size for 4 average steaks, all seared at once. The plates are not removable, so cleanup is a little more painful that it could be...but using the moist paper towel method (as described by others) works ok. The little drain cup just sits on the counter at the front left corner of the unit - not integrated or attached to the machine, so that's a little odd too - but I get why it was designed that way - the drain cup is easy to clean which is good. So far I'm pretty happy with this - I'd go 5-stars if the plates were removable and easier to clean. I have no complaints about the searing performance of this unit.I have only used the grill for steaks and burgers so far. I have had to lower the temperature slightly from recommended temperature but results are more than expected. I love this grill. The only thing that could make it better would be removable plates. Having said that using wet paper towel and letting it steam works really well.ONE DOWN FALL WITH THIS GRILL IS THE CORED IS WAY TO SHORT , IT WONT EVEN REACH MY OUTLET FROM MY COUNTER,. I HAVE TO USE AN EXTENSION CORD . IT'S ALSO VERY HARD TO CLEAN THE TOP GRILL , MIND YOU I DIDN'T DO THE WET PAPER TOWEL AS THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY BUT NOT EVERYONE HAS PAPER TOWELS IN THERE HOME.I love it. Cooks healthy. Grills meat, seafoods, vegetables so easily. Clean up is easy as well. At first we thought that the drip pan would be problematic, because our previous gill has an integrated drip pan, but it is even better because we can dispose the drips easier and you can wash it separately. If we lose the drip pan, you can substitute a small bowl. The unit is solid and the plates heat quickly. Big negative? The cord is a measly 18 inches in length and so the grill’s placement is limited. Now I know why the product’s photos did not include one of the power cord.
