This food thermometer was packed really well with quality foam inside the box protecting the product and a film over the display and face to prevent scuffing. It is a smart design- the body is oversized to fit a hand well even with gloves on and it has a loop to clip a tie onto or hanging up. It has an auto on feature when the probe swings open, and an auto off when closed. It has an amber colored backlight so it can be easily read when barbecuing in the winter or low light. We chose the bright orange model so it is easy to find when packing up at night. Perhaps my favorite feature is that the buttons and screen are seamless so there are no nooks for gunk to get into and it is super easy to clean. Another great feature is that when it is first turned on it tells you how full the battery is, because there is nothing worse than scrambling for a battery in the middle of grilling. For the money, I couldn't have found a better thermometer. Really impressed.
