I wrote a glowing review for this brand meat thermometer in the 500 ft version. Had to return because the probe battery was defective and was not holding a charge. Great product in as what the product did. Amazon refunded purchase. I went to order another unit and with my refund and a few dollars more I ordered the 700 ft version. This unit did everything the original unit did plus never disconnected from the time the cook started to the end. I went to every corner of my house, sat in a recliner with phone on my chest and it never lost the signal. The other version lost signal in the middle of my house repeatedly. Always laying on chest. This is a fantastic meat thermometer, well worth the extra money. Tip - if you need the repeater closer to the smoker I put 2 small magnets on the outside of the box that were held in place by the magnets inside the box, covered with silicone on the back side and stuck to the upper most corner of a glass door. Taped- let cure- not noticeable and works great.
