After a good deal of use, I now have to get another one. Not because broken (but see below) but because my daughter took it to her house!. Four stars and not five because eventually it did break. The wires internally that connect to the probe came loose. If they were a little longer or stronger, would probably last forever. If I were not able to fix it I would down vote it more, but not a tough repair if you are a little handy.Since I grill a steak at home quite occasionally, I wanted to actually measure if my meat is cooked medium, medium rare, or medium-well. Before, I just timed from 3 minutes to 4 minutes depend on the thickness and the amount of fat in my meat, but with this thermometer, now I can easily check if my meat is actually cooked as I desired. Also, they give a chart of meat temperature guide which is really helpful.In terms of usage, it's really simple. Once you read the instruction, or even without reading the instruction, it is very intuitive that you cannot know how to use this. I recommend this product 100%.It's only 2 or 3 months old, stopped working after using 5 times. I thought the battery might be gone, so I put in a new one. Nope. Not the battery. Too bad. It was a decent little thing, fast reading.Disappointing!Update: Replacement was sent very quickly, no questions asked. Greatly appreciated! Updated rating!Don’t know why I hesitated buying this. It’s fabulous, easy to use and read for seniors! I use it on meats and to test water temperatures to make bread dough, test candy, etc. Easy to wipe clean and put away. I keep it in its original box ? for cleanliness and readiness. Great product; I don’t know how I lived without it, as the old fashioned one I had was a lot of worry as it didn’t go in as far & give many false readings. Great buy! Don’t hesitate!No more guessing or cutting into the meat to check. I’ve got grilling steaks down pat, and obviously boneless chicken breast can be checked by pressing your finger on it to see if the meat rebounds. However when the whole grill is covered with chops, wings or leg quarters it’s just really nice to probe around and take the done ones off while the rest finish cooking. The only thing worse than an overcooked wing is an undercooked thigh. My steak can moo but I want my chicken 165I have wanted one for several years and for whatever reason I have never bought one. So this and the price was low so I thought what the heck, I'll return it if it doesn't work. IT WORKS GREAT!. and did I mention it is instant. I have the old style that the needle has to move and this you stick it in and BAM (intentional used that word) the temp pops up. I have tested and it is accurate. It even came with a spare battery.It sticks to the fridge! I don't really have much use for it but my boyfriend wanted it so I got it for him, but he was pleased with it to say the least.I use this thermo to check temps at the end of a cook when I don't want to move insitu thermometers around. Reliable and consistent temperatures .
