This half-inch thick cordierite baking stone loves heat and is safe to 1450°F! It works in the oven or on the grill, and though it's called a pizza stone, it's just as good for breads and tortillas, producing crisp crust yet retaining the dough's moisture. It gets better over time as the unglazed, unsealed stone is seasoned by food and oils with each use. *Never clean a pizza stone with soap. * Only clean your pizza stone after it has completely cooled. Always scrape off all spilled or cooked food with a stiff brush, scrubbing pad, or plastic scraper, and simply wipe the surface of the stone with a damp cloth. Putting a hot stone into tepid water will weaken its structural integrity and can cause small fractures that could lead to eventual breakage.

This is a great pizza stone for using on the grill. We bought this to use on our Big Green Egg, as our other pizza stones weren't really big enough to fit the size pizza we wanted to cook. I must admit I was a little weary of the quality that this stone would be, since it is so much cheaper than other pizza stones. However I was very impressed with the quality when the stone arrived. It is nice thickness and I had no worries about it cracking in the heat of the grill. After cooking on it a few times, I can say it has performed very well, much better than I expected from a pizza stone at this price point. Another positive thing about this stone is that it is double sided, so you can always flip it over if something were to happen and you chipped or marred the surface of one side.
