I can't address durability on this item as I just received it. But it is exactly what I expected and fits my needs very well. The clip opens large enough to clip onto my 1 1/2" granite counter top. The light is reasonably tall and infinitely adjustable. It is bright enough to be able to inspect meat to see if it's done. One thing you should know: It is not obvious how to open the battery compartment. No instructions. No "Push Here" markings. After twisting and pulling every which way...to the point I was afraid of breaking something... I went back to the Amazon listing and examined the detailed view of the open compartment. I determined that opening it required carefully placed force...by knife or thin screwdriver...to pry the lid off. A simple tweak to the design could have made this easier and more obvious. Otherwise pleased with the product. Now I need to see how long it lasts.
